Earthen Fragments was an experiential design project between Stephen Hopkins of Working Parts Studio, and Christian Borger of ULTRA-LIGHT RESEARCH. It featured two sculptures of rebar and concrete and a one-off limited edition concrete cast CH-03-HB chair housed in an experiential light and sound space. The chair and sculptural works were both created using the same technique of wooden mold casting with gravel and dirt inside to create works highly representative of their process and as a reference to the in-process conditions found during the construction of built environments.
